Get To Know Our Occupational Therapist
In 1989, Debra completed a second bachelor's degree in occupational therapy from the Dominican College of Blauvelt, New York, and has been working as a registered occupational therapist in the field of pediatrics (early intervention and school-based occupational therapy services) since 1990. Debra's interest in the pediatric field has been in handwriting, written communication skills, and assistive technology.
She Began Working With Handwriting Clinics...
through Easter Seal of Chester County in 1998 and became certified with the Interactive Metronome ® Program and the Handwriting Without Tears ® Program. She is currently licensed as an occupational therapist in both Pennsylvania and Delaware and has also practiced in the state of Maryland in 2008.
In 2009, Debra began working in the state of Delaware in various school districts as an Assistive Technology Coordinator. Currently, she is responsible for providing assistive technology to over 200 students in over 20 schools from kindergarten through high school. In 2018, Debra successfully completed the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) exam and has been recognized as an Assistive Technology Professional through RESNA for many years.
In Addition to Assistive Technology and Occupational Therapy Training
Debra George is also a licensed Pennsylvania massage therapist, infant massage instructor (Certified Educator of Infant Massage or CEIM), certified hypnotherapist, and Reiki master. She works with infants and children to help with stress reduction through massage, Reiki, and aromatherapy. As a holistic occupational therapist, Debra uses a variety of modalities to help children with stress. She was the co-owner of the Golden Light Wellness Center located in Oxford, Pennsylvania for 20 years.
